The Silver Ring Choir of Bath is a mixed voice choir which recently celebrated its 70th anniversary. Our eclectic repertoire and busy schedule has given us a highly regarded reputation with audiences in Bath and Bristol.
Our History
Our Genesis
In 1951, Kelvin Thomas MBE (founder-conductor) went around the village of Bathampton knocking on doors to find singers for the new choir he was forming. Kelvin sadly passed away in June 2019 at the age of 99. The choir benefited hugely from his passion and dedication to music.
Over 70 years later the choir is still going strong with a rich history involving competitions, TV appearances, recordings (visit Discogs website in a new tab), virtual rehearsals and extensive touring. The Choir is a registered charity run on professional terms and rehearses almost every week in the centre of Bath.
Our Community
Who are we?
Choir members come from a fairly wide geographic area around Bath, from Chipping Sodbury to Shepton Mallet. Members bring a range of musical experience. Our common factor is enthusiasm!
We know that joining together to make music is one of the finest things a community can do. The Choir continues to draw people and music together without boundaries, enriching the lives of its members and the wider community.
